Branching Out into New Office Space
7th December 2023A Tribute to Dr. David Lonsdale
12th April 2024Our Journey Through the Seasons
This year has flown by. Perhaps it’s to do with getting older, but these days, months seem like weeks! As such, we though it’d be good to look back and take stock of what happened at AWA Tree Consultants over the last year. Here we detail a few of the events in what’s been a ‘tree-mendous’ year at the company:
Tree Surveys – lots of em!
As ever, it’s been a busy year for the tree survey team getting out and about looking at trees! We are always busiest undertaking tree surveys in our own neck of the woods – with most tree surveys in South Yorkshire, West Yorkshire and the surrounding counties of Lincolnshire, Nottinghamshire, East and North Yorkshire and Derbyshire. Although we have also got further afield – being based in Sheffield our centrally located new headquarters gives easy access to most of England – we regularly travel across the country for tree surveys for planning and development and tree risk assessments.
But professional arboriculture is not just about trees – it’s also about people! So, here is a run through of some non-tree survey company news over the last year:
Welcoming New Team Members
A standout highlight this year is the addition of talented individuals to our team. We were thrilled to welcome Sophie to the team and for Lucy to return to our crew! Our new team members bring fresh perspectives, diverse expertise, and a shared passion for professional arboriculture. In terms of representation and participation arboriculture is heavily weighted towards men, so we were stoked to make a small step in encouraging more women into arboriculture. This expansion is a testament to the growth of our company and the increasing demand for our tree consultancy services. With their skills and dedication, we’re even better equipped to meet the needs of our clients.
New Electric Pool Car
This year, AWA Tree Consultants Limited has upgraded its fleet with a new Volkswagen ID.3 electric pool car. This not only demonstrates our commitment to sustainability but also ensures that our team can conduct site visits safely and efficiently. We believe in reducing our carbon footprint while enhancing the mobility of our dedicated arboricultural experts (and it also helps keep the monthly mileage bill down!)
Project Management System
In a move towards greater efficiency and streamlined operations, this year we invested in and adopted cutting-edge project management software. While it was a steep learning curve, this dedicated PM system allows us to better organise, track, and manage our projects, ensuring that we provide our clients with the highest level of professional arboriculture. Your projects are now in even more capable hands, as we utilise technology to enhance our tree survey process and tree reports delivery process.
Health and Wellbeing Benefits
Our commitment to employee well-being extends beyond the workplace. This year we were pleased to roll out comprehensive private health insurance for our valued staff – this gives our team access to anything from seeing a private doctor or dentist and treatments to mental health, physiotherapy and other specialist support. It also includes a rewards scheme with lots of freebies – so far, our team have taken advantage of free detailed health assessments, Café Nero coffees, cinema tickets, apple/fitbit watches, as well as massively discounted gym memberships and spa days. This initiative prioritizes the health of our team members, showing our appreciation for their hard work and dedication.
Team Training Days
Knowledge is power! At AWA Tree Consultants Limited, we believe in empowering our team. This year we’ve continued regular staff training, CPD and team training days to ensure that our staff stays at the forefront of industry developments. This commitment to ongoing education translates into superior service for our clients, as we bring the latest insights and expertise to every project.
Bigger Office Space
This year AWA Tree Consultants Limited expanded into a larger office space. This growth is a testament to the hard work and dedication of our tree consultant team. The new space not only accommodates our growing team but also allows us to serve our clients more effectively. Feel free to drop by and check out our new workspace – still in the heart of Sheffield’s Kelham Island/Neepsend area.
Team Trips
Team cohesion is vital for delivering outstanding tree survey services. That’s why we organise regular team trips for activities, from a walk in the woods, going for food and drinks or the monthly AWA bouldering club! These informal excursions not only foster a sense of camaraderie among our team but also translate into a collaborative approach to our arboricultural consultancy and tree survey projects.
Arbor Adventures – 2023 to 2024 and beyond !
In summary, these few examples underline AWA Tree Consultants Limited’s continued focus on both employee well-being and client satisfaction. By investing in our team and upgrading our operational capabilities, we’re better positioned than ever to provide first-rate arboricultural consulting services. We’re not just about trees; we’re about people—our team and our clients. Thank you for being part of our journey into 2024 and beyond!
